WWF is another group that has been working prominently in conservation work in the Everglades. The Everglades is home to diverse ecosystems and is one of the U.S.’s most prized natural habitats under threat. WWF has been working in Florida on legislative and political issues to ensure that the state’s $8 billion project to restore the Everglades from 2003 is successful.
The Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP) is Florida’s answer to the Everglades issue. It is a plan that hopes to restore Central and Southern Florida’s water resources through capturing freshwater and redistributing it throughout the region. This will be done by a series of canals and water control structures.
