It may seem strange to make boundaries on oceans because they all seem to be connected. But boundaries are designated by the land masses which border oceans and by ridges on the ocean floor. The ridges act as geographic boundaries. Sometimes there are no geographic features present and when that is the case the boundary is arbitrary and only formed by opposing currents, which shift and fluctuate. These partial barriers act as borders between adjacent oceans.
