How are animals effected by desertification?

As the land dries out, it becomes more and more difficult for the animals to find water.  Because the soil is dried out, it cannot support ample vegetation to feed the animals.  This causes them to suffer from drought and famine.

Desertification is a process by which land becomes increasingly dry until almost no vegetation grows on it, making it a desert. When desert sets or even before the process commpletes, there is gradual change in the vegetation of the given place and as soon as the vegetation no longer supports the life of some animals inhabiting the area, they tend to migrate to another suitable place.
