The cans are first washed and otherwise cleanedd to get rid of anything that might contaminate the aluminum. Then, they’re melted down. The melted material is sent to manufacturers to make new aluminum products. It’s that simple!
First the cans goes to a recycling center. At the recycling center, they are smashed into dense bales (like a bale of hay). The bales are shredded; and small chips of aluminum created. These chips are melted together with new aluminum and the melted metal is formed into a new shape.
