According to meteorologist Jeffrey Masters, the ozone hole may have seen its maximum size in 2000.  The amount of chlorine in the stratosphere peaked at that time and has since decreased by about 3.8%.  In 2008, the ozone hole was smaller than it was in 2006, but larger than it was in 2007, meaning that the size of the ozone hole may be fairly stable for the moment, with a very gradual decrease in size over the next few years.
