Is having tuna processors committing to certified catches a big step in the right direction?

    It is if the issue is sustainability. This commitment would mean that there would be less fish caught from endangered fisheries, which will help strengthen their populations slowly. Fisherman would have to abide by the Regional Fisheries Management Organization in which they would have to document certain things such as the type of fish, their vessel and what part of the ocean the fish was caught in. Additionally, participants will have the power to not place a product on the shelves to buy if it is in violation of this mandate. Although this will yield gradual gains, it is important to look at long term solutions such as this one as opposed to short term.
