Have we ever used so much water that we have made a lake or a river go dry?

    Yes, Lake Haramaya in Ethiopia recently went dry due to climate change and over use. Farmers have routinely abused laws protecting the water supply.

    The Colorado river, where it enters the Gulf of California, is essentially dry because of withdrawals upstream (CA, AZ, NV, etc).
