Apparently, yes. The presence of house plants have been proven to alleviate complaints of many physical ailments. A study from Norway showed that cold-related illnesses were decreased by 30% in the presence of house plants. Some scientists say that people are happier and feel more optimistic when they are in the presence of plants. This was actually really interesting to find out; as a gardener, I know that I feel very comforted by being surrounded by thriving plants.
Humans, up until recent history, were constantly surrounded by plants in their living environment throughout our evolution. The presence of plants is unquestionably beneficial to human health: interior plants serve to regulate the humidity of the air, as well as absorb carbon dioxide and increase the oxygen content of the air.
