You can get a good idea by looking at eBay, or calling a local recycler.
A chest freezer is good ecologically, assuming that it’s top opening, because the cold stays in when the top is open.
But don’t assume you’re going to get a lot. In fact, in some communities you might be charged to dump it, because of the coolant. The problem is that older freezers tended to use more inefficient motors. So it could cost more to run than it’s worth.
If you can’t sell it, you might consider giving it away, for example on Craigslist. Shelters and such might be able to use it.
