Have the monsoon seasons been worse lately than they have been in the past because of global warming?

Monsoon seasons have absolutely been affected by global warming – although the average rainfall remains about the same, the number of “heavy” monsoons has been on the rise, while lighter monsoons have declined.  Global warming affects weather patterns, but doesn’t have any effect on the amount of water going through the water cycle.  What it does affect, however, is dispersion of the water – think of the difference between dropping a capful of water out of a 2L bottle every five minutes until it’s empty versus pouring the whole thing out at once.
