Tough to say — it might be more a matter of different than worse. The Gulf War resulted in 50,000 tons of sewage a day being spilled in Kuwait, among other things, whereas the present war has had harmful effects on biodiversity and landscapes in Iraq. One way you could look at it is that the war in Iraq helped keep Republicans in power through 2006, preventing progress in environmental regulation and federal funding for technologies.
