Has this war with Iraq been worse for the environment than the 1st one?

    That is a tough one to answer. Operation Desert storm unleashed the Kuwaiti oil fires. These massive fires burned for ten months at about six million barrels per day. Depleted uranium shells were also used by American A-10 warthog gunships. The second Iraq war also used depleted uranium shells. These shells have been blamed for the disease known as, “gulf war syndrome”. I would hazard a guess that the first Iraq war was worse for the environment because of the Kuwaiti oil fires. Kuwaitis are still suffering from the effects today.
