Has the U.S. reduced greenhouse gas emissions at all over the last few years?

Yes. In 2008, carbon dioxide emissions from energy sources fell 2.8 percent from the previous year in the United States. This is especially heartening given that the overall trend of the last decade has been increasing greenhouse gas emissions. (The average amount by which carbon dioxide emissions have changed over that period, for instance, is plus 0.8%.) Factors believed to have brought about the decline in emissions last year include the recession and higher energy prices.
