Currently, the US has only one high speed rail system. It’s the Amtrak Acela Express, located on the east coast. It runs from Boston to DC through New York and Baltimore. Even this one, however, runs significantly slower than most international routes dubbed high spreed railways. There are also quite a few new high speed railways proposed to connect various large cities throughout the US under Obama’s plan. Most states are in the process of completing feasibility studies. California, however, has already committed to a high speed rail project in 2008 and is currently developing plans, though no ground has been broken.
