Has the United States started any programs to plant more trees?

    Tree planting on all ownerships total approximately two and a half million acres annually. Forest industry plants 45%, non-industrial private owners plant 42%, the National Forest System plants 6%, other government and industries plant 7%. For the most part, tree planting is more privatized rather than government sponsored.

    Created under President Roosevelt’s New Deal, the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) was an organization that helped preserve the forests and rural lands of America. Across the nation, the organization planted almost 3 billion trees and formed 800 parks. It employed 2.5 million people in its 9 years of existence! To answer your question, yes, the government has implemented programs to plant trees.
