Has the switch to digital TV been a good thing for our environment?

Might depend on your viewpoint. The switch caused a lot of the converter boxes to be produced, with the option of either getting the converter box or a new tv. Buying a new tv unneccessarily creates waste, and th government was still looking to improve their recycling programs. While new LCD’s are advertised as efficient, they are not as efficient as a Cathode Ray Tube television, provided it’s still working. There’s a lot of variables after that. Perhaps someone got cable and now watches more tv, got a new hd tv and watches movies with a better picture, who knows. I think the digital switch is less concerned with the environment and more about governmental control over something.
