Has the quality of beef you can get at the grocer changed in the last twenty years?

    I believe that with the advent of factory farms, pesticides, antibiotics and the general poor way that livestock is treated and raised in America, the quality of meat has most likely gone down in the past twenty years. Good alternatives for better, healthier and more humane beef is grass fed beef which is higher in proteins and minerals.

    Yes, it has changed.  Unfortunately it has not been for the better.  Due to big agribusinesses, the focus has been on quantity rather than quality.  It is for that reason that recent outbreaks of health problems, such as Mad Cow Disease, have developed.  A few books and movies that discuss the topic are Fast Food Nation and Food Inc.
