Has mail delivery gotten faster than it was 10 years ago?

There have been no new methods of package transport introduced in the last ten years, so any improvements in delivery speed are the results of improved efficiency in mail sorting and processing.

In addition, the rise of E-mail and online sales and auction sites in the past 10 years means that postal mail now consists more of packages than letters, and people ordering or shipping packages will be more likely to pay extra shipping to ensure quick delivery. Because of this, the average time packages spend in transit may have gotten shorter.
