Yes; though the program is still growing, in 2010, FedEx added four EV delivery trucks. Over the years, FedEx has taken many steps to make its shipping system greener. In 2010, it was using 1,800 alternative-energy vehicles, a number that has likely grown since then. FedEx is likely to expand its EV program in the future, saying that electric trucks “have a bright future in the mix of alternative energy vehicles”.
FedEx recently has decided to incorporate the Navistar eStar, an electric cargo van, into it’s fleet. The range of the van is about 100mi, with a battery swap possible in 20 min. So far, FedEx has requested four of these $150,000 vans.
