The Copenhagen conference has had a positive impact for the environment, helping to bring international attention to the growing issues associated with climate change. Various nations such as the United States, China, Mexico, Canada and more all pledged to cut emission levels according to their own goals in the Copenhagen Accord. The United States pledged to cut down emissions by 17% of 2005 levels by 2020.
I’d say if there was a policy that everyone agreed to it would have made a much more positive impact on the environment. But that didn’t happen, which caused a great number of people to be outraged towards their governments, which in effect made the whole climate problems much more public. Individual countries did set goals on cutting emissions which is good, but an international agreement would have been better.
