According to the cited article two bills have introduced to the House of Representatives proposing a ban on the use of the chemical in all drink containers, but the topic has not yet been debated or subject to a vote.
Several baby bottle producers have vowed to stop using the chemical in their product. Also Sunoco, a plastic producer, vowed to cease selling pre-production BPA to companies that produce drink containers.
BPA has been banned from being used to make baby bottles in China, Canada, the European Union, and the United Arab Emirates. California, Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York, Washington, Wisconsin, and Vermont are in the process of, or have recently passed, legislation to ban BPA in different products, mostly baby bottles and infant toys.
