Many steps have been made in the past decade to make farming more sustainable, but surprisingly it has been by small and medium sized farms, not the industrial giants. Some of these steps include more sustainable crop rotation patters, intercropping, organic growing and on-site research to better understand our crops. This pattern over the last decade has included more organic foods found closer to home, for instance farmer’s markets and has been dubbed the “Slow Food Movement” to counteract unhealthy fast food alternatives.
