The ban of CFC’s was created to reduce the hole in the ozone layer, which has slowed in destruction since the ban was put in place (http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2003/07/030730080139.htm). Since CFC’s aren’t a greenhouse gas, they haven’t reduced the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. From a theoretical standpoint, it would be seen that the ban on the production of these chemicals would reduce greenhouse gases by eliminating that industry. However, that decrease was probably replaced by another industry.
