Considering the huge advances and pushes in fuel efficiency and sustainability of car companies throughout the world, it is impossible to think that it hasn’t gone up.
There is a table in the link below, that shows the average mpg of different types of cars in the US throughout the years. However, it isn’t the most up-to-date, since the latest year is only 2007, or 2009. But you can still get the picture, of the changes in efficiency. But also consider that this table only reflects American cars, and not cars that are Japanese, European, etc.
