According to BBC News, the oil rig leak in the Timor Sea was “plugged” as of the beginning of November last year.  Thousands of barrels of oil were lost over the ten weeks of the leak, and it was finally stopped by injecting 3500 barrels of mud into a relief well.

The massive deluge of oil leaking from the Montara well, which occurred off the northern coast of Australia in August of 2009, has indeed been stopped.  To do this, heavy mud was pumped down a relief well.  However, the leak lasted for 10 weeks, and it is reported that the oil spread as far as Indonesia.
