Is growing tobacco bad for the environment?

    Yes, growing tobacco is bad for the environment.  It destroys soil for future plants, and requires a lot of land to grow, partially because of the fact that it destroys soil.  Apart from that, tobacco growing needs a lot of pesticides along with fertilizers to replenish the damaged soil.  Most people smoke tobacco in cigarettes, which requires a lot of paper, causing deforestation in order to create the paper.  Lastly, though also not directly related to the growing of tobacco, the smoking of tobacco produces a lot of pollution.
