Although green energy use is increasing both in private residences and in businesses, it still does not do much to compete with coal yet. Coal is still a dominant source of energy and it will be difficult to supplant because at this point it’s much cheaper than green energy. It won’t be until infrastructure is in place and cheap enough to replace coal that people will start to make the switch. Alternately, once coal supplies are down to a dangerous low, or once climate change comes to a head, then people will start to reconsider their coal practices.
