At the size of 1,347 acres, the Great Park in Irvine, CA will be larger than New York’s Central Park and San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park, however it will not surpass Los Angeles’s 4,200-acre Griffith Park. Regardless of whose bigger, the Great Park will be a mammoth of an multi-purpose park, once its construction is completed. According to the construction plan, the Great Park will comprise of a 2.5-mile (4.0 km) canyon, a 26-acre (110,000 m2) lake, botanical gardens, a cultural terrace, lawns, performing arts venues, a sports park, and a wildlife corridor. Currently, this project is still in construction.
