No, the English Mastiff has the record as being the largest dog (weight wise) and on average is the largest dog species.  They typically exceed 200 lbs.   The largest on record was 343 lbs. and eight feet long from nose to tail.  Great Danes on average grow to be between 150 and 200 pounds.

The English Mastiff is a HUGE dog.  They can weigh between 110-343 lbs.  They are not, generally speaking, the tallest dog.  The Irish Wolfhound is considered the tallest dog, exceeding 7 ft. while standing on its hind legs.  A St. Bernard named Benedictine holds the record for thw heaviest dog, coming in at 357 lbs.  The Dogue de Bordeaux has the largest head in proportion to the rest of its body.
