Is global warming connected to the health of our nation?

There are many ways in which global warming will contribute to serious health problems in the US and other countries. A warmer climate will mean that many disease-carrying insects extend their range northward, facilitating the introduction of tropical diseases into temperate areas. Global warming will also increase the incidence of many allergies, and disrupt wind patterns in ways that make other types of pollution even worse at ground level. Many crops that are now grown in this country will suffer as the climate changes, making healthy foods less readily available. These are only a few of the ways that global warming stands to damage our health as a nation.
