It depend on the recession and on the country. This recession was largely due to unscrupulous practices in the mortgage finance industry in the United States, so countries who’s economies were closely linked to the U.S. suffered and generally suffered more then the U.S. itself because economies are not buoyed up by the international community. Conversely, China and other countries less dependent on the U.S. suffered far less.
