Is glass ever made in nature?

There’s a great deal of natural glass, although the conditions creating it are often volcanic. Natural glass is not very often transparent, though. Obsidian, moldavite, crater glass and silica glasses are each found only in a few countries. Obsidian is volcanic glass, and it has been highly useful to mankind, especially in prehistory, where it was used for tools, weapons, jewelry and even as mirrors. The British built church and castle walls faced with Obsidian that have lasted for hundreds of years.

Extraterrestrial planets and moons with volcanos will have glass. Because glass may be formed by meteor impact, it will exist on rocky planets and moons with little or no atmosphere.
