The other answer’s numbers represent the percentage of renewable energy that comes from hydropower – NOT the total. This is clear in the figure from the citation in the other answer – hydro is 35% of 8% from renewables.
Only about 3% of total consumption is from hyrdopower (2.7 quads in 2009 of 94.8 quads total)
