I’m assuming you mean drilling for oil. Drilling for natural gas uses many of the same techniques as drilling for oil. However, with natural gas a line typically has to be drilled below shale to force the gas and oil up through the shale. In terms of the workers involved, it is pretty much the same danger level. In terms of the environment, there are minor additional concerns, and the industry has procedures in place to avoid catastrophe in most forseen circumstances.
