Is fuel consumption directly related to industrialization?

    Well even if there is a chance that their are not directly related, they industrialization causes the fuel consumption to rise. When the industrialization began around the middle of the 19th century steam power was used, mostly from boiling water with using coal. As more machines were automated more and more coal was used. After that oil was discovered to be very efficient compared to coal and thus replaced it. Ever since then the oil production is in constant rising but it is getting ever more difficult to find it which makes it expensive.
