Is friction a necessary part of life?

Indubitably friction is a necessary part of life. Without friction we wouldn’t be able to stand on our feet. Without friction cars wouldn’t brake, they would simply keep sliding until something stopped them. If there was not friction it would be just as if we lived in space. Objects would move around freely in any direction that forces pushed them with no ability to stop themselves. Friction is one of the very basic foundations for the reason we have life on this planet, in a physics sense.
