Natural gas is not a mineral, and is not found near them (coal, oil, etc). It is a fossil fuel, and is found with other fossil fuels. Natural gas is mostly comprised of methane, and is formed by deposits of marshes and bogs from times past. It is also created in landfills by methanogenic organisms. Helium and sulfur are common associates of natural gas fields.
