Although there have been campaigns against the floridation of water since the mid 1940s, there has been no significant scientific evidence to indicate that floridation causes serious health risks. The only adverse health effect linked to floridation is a condition called dental flourosis, which is the appearance of white streaks on the teeth during tooth formation in childhood and is not considered dangerous.
