Is fish cheaper at a fisherman’s wharf?

Normally, yes, because the fish does not need to be shipped and thus the fishermen do not need to pay for gasoline or other shipping expenses. This makes fish bought at a wharf more environmentally friendly, though sometimes large chain markets can afford to undercut small self-employed fishermen due to their ability to buy in bulk. Find a fisherman’s wharf near you and compare prices for yourself to be sure.
