Is the first satellite that was launched into space still there?

    No. The first satellite launched into space was the Soviet Sputnik 1. It was launched on the 4th of October, 1957. It had a 3 month mission plan, after which it burned up upon reentering the Earth’s atmosphere on the 4th of January, 1958.
