Yes, it’s making its stadium more eco friendly by cladding it with new fiberC glass fiber concrete panels, which are better for the environment than fiber cement panels and aluminium sheets.
It is also urging fans to use public transportation to come to games!
The 2006 World Cup was greener, but much of that had to do with the infrastructure already in place in Germany. Public transportation in South Africa this year isn’t as readily available, and therefore any efforts made might be offset by cars and buses taking fans to games.
