Fast food in general is far from eco-friendly, not to mention very unhealthy. The beef and chicken sold in fast food restaurants travels over long distances in gas guzzling trucks. The beef is the cheapest available, meaning that it comes from massive cattle farms which produce tons of animal waste pollution. They are also fed corn based meal, which is not natural for cows to eat. They are meant to eat grasses while grazing. The corn meal is cheap due to government corn subsidies. Large non-organic corn crops are cause for major nutrient pollution in water systems. There are so many other reasons as well. Read Chapter 1 of Michael Pollan’s The Omnivore’s Dillema for the full story.
