Vandana Shiva is a well known Indian environmentalist. She’s been called “the great voice of India” and has won the Earth Day International Award, Right Livelihood Award, and the Global 500 Award. She’s conducted research on mining and agricultural operations, started an organic farming organization, and written papers for the United Nations. She’s an academic and an activist who works to understand human relationships with the Earth and indigenous knowledge. She’s passionate about speaking against the patenting of plants, and she seeks social justice for those who’ve been affected by the genetically modified crops industry.
