The Eurasian lynx population, which now consists of of between 50-70 thousand individuals, is presently classes as “least concern.” However, conservationists are aware that their numbers have dropped considerably in Western Europe, where they have been crowded out by human populations.  In an effort to rectify this, Eurasian lynxes have been reintroduced in many areas of Western Europe.
