Is ethyl acetate bad for the environment?

Ethyl acetate is a chemical found in products such as fabric softener, dryer sheets, and nail polish.  It is sometimes labeled as an organic solvent, although it is listed as a narcotic on the EPA’s Hazardous Waste list.  Ethyl acetate is considered an irritant and there are some other health concerns, especially when you breath it in; usually from nail polish.  If properly manufactured, it seems to have minimal adverse side effect on the environment, but if animals are exposed to it, it can cause narcosis and depression of heart function.
