Is the environmental damage of a space flight equivalent to that of a nuclear bomb?

Not even close. A nuclear bomb causes catastrophic damage over a large area of land, leaving remnants of hazardous material in the air and ground for decades. One space shuttle launch is about equivalent to two minutes of gasoline use in the United States. Also the main release of space shuttles is water vapor.
