Wireless electricity transfer is used in a handful of devices — some LCD TVs, research-oriented devices produced in labs, etc. However, as opposed to other sorts of devices that receive waves — radios, cell phones, TV — the issue is not only distinguishing the incoming wave, but also devising a system with enough efficiency to make it worthwhile. This is a problem not at all specific to geothermal energy, but an overall issue where our utilities systems could improve. I wouldn’t go so far as to call wireless electricity transfer definitively cleaner and eco-friendlier because a wire isn’t involved, although it is a definite improvement.
