Is the electric car market subsidized at all by the government?

    Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has said in August the government has set aside $400 million in subsidies for the electric car market alongside the billions already allocated to the industry. The government is also offering generous tax credits for purchasing electric cars; these credits are typically between the $1000 and $7,500 range.
