Is the ecosystem in a swamp very similar to that of a pond?

A swamp is typically a wetland that is flooded, either seasonally or on a more permanent basis. A pond, on the other hand, is not typically a wetland.

If a swamp has a good amount of plant life in it, then they can be very similar habitats. Both ponds and swamps can become stagnant, resulting in a more similar environment as various life begins to grow on or near the surface of both.
