Is the earths water always in balance?

The water that is part of our planet is more or less always in balance, though individual molecules of water can take years or even centuries to pass from one stage to another. These potential stages include rivers, streams, lakes, oceans, evaporation, evapotranspiration, rain, snow, clouds, plants, groundwater, biological tissue, etc., etc., so you can see how long it could take!
